Treatment
Root Canal Treatment (RCT) in Dimapur
Signs you may need a root canal
- Severe toothache while chewing
- Pain that wakes you up at night
- Long-lasting sensitivity to hot or cold
- A darkened or grey tooth
- Swelling or a pimple-like bump on the gum
- A deep cavity reaching the nerve
What happens, step by step
- Diagnosis & X-ray
A digital X-ray shows how deep the infection goes and confirms RCT is the right choice — not every ache needs one.
- Numbing
Local anaesthesia makes the tooth completely numb. You feel pressure, not pain.
- Cleaning the canals
The infected pulp is removed and each canal is cleaned, shaped and disinfected.
- Filling & sealing
Canals are sealed with a rubber-like material (gutta-percha) so bacteria cannot return.
- Crown protection
A crown is usually advised afterwards to make the treated tooth strong for chewing — priced separately.
Aftercare
- Mild soreness for 1–2 days — a normal painkiller handles it
- Chew on the other side until the crown is placed
- Get the crown within a few weeks for best protection
- Return immediately if swelling increases
Common questions
Does a root canal hurt?
With modern anaesthesia, most patients feel little to nothing during the procedure — many say it felt like a long filling. The pain people fear is usually the infection before treatment, not the treatment itself.
How many visits will I need?
Many of our root canals finish in a single sitting. Badly infected teeth may need two visits so medicine can work inside the tooth between them.
What happens if I delay?
The infection can spread to the bone, turn into a painful abscess, and make the tooth unsavable. Early treatment is cheaper, faster and more comfortable.
