Root Canal Treatment in Dimapur: A Guide
The short answer
- How infected it is. A straightforward case finishes in one sitting. A badly abscessed tooth may need two visits with medicine in between.
- Re-treatment. Redoing a failed old root canal is more complex than a fresh one.
Is a root canal cheaper than pulling the tooth?
An honest dentist can't quote an exact figure before seeing the tooth on an X-ray. The range tells you what to plan for; after examination you get a written estimate — and at our clinic, no treatment begins until you've seen and agreed to that number.
Does it have to hurt?
No. This is the biggest myth in dentistry. With modern local anaesthesia, the tooth is completely numb — most patients tell us it felt like a long filling. The pain people dread is the infection before treatment, which the root canal removes. You can even watch how it works in 3D in our Smile Studio.
- Don't delay. A small cavity fixed early may never need a root canal at all. Once infection reaches the nerve, RCT becomes the cheaper option versus losing the tooth.
- Get the crown. Skipping the crown to save money often ends with a cracked tooth and a bigger bill.
Frequently asked questions
Is a crown always needed after a root canal?
For back teeth, almost always — they take heavy chewing forces and can crack without a crown. Some front teeth can manage with a strong filling; your dentist advises per tooth.
Can a root canal be done in one visit?
Many can. Straightforward cases finish in a single sitting; heavily infected teeth may need two visits so medicine can work inside the tooth between them.
